Blind Choices

Most people who have been brought up in the church will recognize the story of how Christ healed blind Bartimaeus. When hearing that a miracle maker out of Galilee was passing through Jericho, Bartimaeus made the decision to call out with the hope of being heard over the crowd just to get the attention of the man called Jesus.
The weight of a choice, whether right or wrong, often outlives the moment it’s made, carving pathways we might never have intended to tread. The right choice, though it may demand patience or sacrifice, plants seeds of harmony that flourish with time. Conversely, a wrong choice, however tempting in its immediacy, can unravel threads of trust, sowing chaos and regret. Yet, within both lies a lesson—one to fortify the soul, the other to humble it—each shaping the mosaic of who we are destined to become.

There Were Also Two Others
A fictional narrative chronicling the lives of the two thieves who were crucified along with Jesus. It begins when the two boys became childhood friends and details how they chose a life of crime, the backlash they received from their families, and the ultimate downfall they experienced following a chance meeting with a man called Barabbas. The imagined backstory helps bring illumination to the very brief mention of these thieves as read in Luke 23:32-43.

He Has Made Me Glad
Written by Vicki Lyle Potter
The imagery of the church as the bride of Christ is one that is rarely explored with more than a cursory overview. The deep love of the Son for His bride and the lengths to which He was willing to go in order to win His beloved are topics to make our hearts yearn to be in His presence. When we realize what Christ has done to win us as His bride, it will make us all the more willing to give up our self-exaltation and give ourselves body and soul to His service on earth until we meet Him in heaven.
